The official title for Hugh Jackman’s “Wolverine 3” has arrived: “Logan.”

Superhero fans have watched Mr. Jackman play Marvel’s iconic hero since 2000’s “X-Men,” but the actor has said “Logan” will be the last time he unleashes the claws. Director James Mangold tweeted the movie’s title Wednesday, while Mr. Jackman shared an image from a building-high advertisement in New York.

“As for our hero, well, he’s older now and it’s clear his abilities aren’t what they once were. He’s fading on the inside and his diminished healing factor keeps in him in a constant state of chronic pain — hence booze as a painkiller,” the script reads.

The text also warns fans not to expect a “gravity defying, city-block destroying CG f–athon.”

The Hollywood Reporter reminded readers Wednesday that the film will feel in many ways like a western.

“Logan,” which also stars Patrick Stewart as Professor X, is scheduled for a March 3 release.
