BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - The bodies of a missing Walker County couple have been found buried in shallow graves about four miles from their home.

The Jefferson County coroner’s office on Wednesday identified the bodies as Duston “Dusty” Turner and Jennifer Phillips. The couple had been missing since Sept. 14.

The Jefferson County sheriff’s office said a family friend discovered the graves Saturday while searching a wooded area in western Jefferson County.

The friend told deputies that he had been given a map of where the couple’s cell phones were last used.

The graves were located four miles from the couple’s home in Quniton.

Turner was 39. Phillips was 30.

Authorities have not released a cause of death. The sheriff’s office said the investigation is ongoing.
