LEBANON, N.H. (AP) - A high-ranking executive at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center has submitted his resignation after spending two years at the Lebanon-based hospital and clinic system.

The Valley News reports (https://bit.ly/2dtAiBB ) John Birkmeyer, executive vice president for integrated delivery systems, is scheduled to leave next week.

Little details were provided for why Birkmeyer, who also served as the hospital’s chief academic officer, was leaving. The newspaper reported some organizational changes in which Birkmeyer played a role didn’t go smoothly, like the absorption of hundreds of employees in clinical research and the psychiatry department after Dartmouth College restructured its medical school.

Birkmeyer says it was an honor to help lead clinical and academic affairs, but it was the right time for both sides to move in different directions.
