The Democratic Party of Florida really thinks state residents should stop listening to Vanilla Ice, although it’s not so much his music they’re worried about.

“We advise listening to your local officials, not @vanillaice. If you are in an evacuation zone, you should leave now,” tweeted @FlaDems shortly before 12:30 p.m. Eastern on Thursday. Hours earlier the rapper, himself a Palm Beach resident, told his followers he was going to ride the category 4 storm out.

For his part, Florida Gov. Rick Scott, a Republican, seems to agree with his friends across the aisle, although it appears he hasn’t, at least yet, addressed Vanilla Ice by name.

“Evacuate, evacuate, evacuate,” The Hill newspaper quoted Mr. Scott as saying at a press conference. “This is going to kill people.”
