AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Northern Maine is going to be experiencing peak fall colors this Columbus Day weekend.

The weekly report from the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry projects peak foliage conditions this weekend in northern and northwestern Maine, stretching from Houlton north to Fort Kent and Millinocket west to Bethel.

The rest of the state is seeing either “moderate” or “high” color.

Gale Ross, fall foliage spokeswoman, says that the drought conditions aren’t preventing colors from emerging on a daily basis, and she says they’re “brilliant.”
