SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - A communications officer with the Shreveport Police Department has been placed on leave following his arrest in a domestic abuse case.

Police say 23-year-old Fredrick Freeman was arrested Wednesday for one count of domestic abuse battery with child endangerment. A woman reported that her boyfriend, identified as Freeman, assaulted her. He was subsequently placed on leave by interim Police Chief Alan Crump.

Bond information was not immediately available. It was unknown if he’s represented by an attorney who could speak on his behalf.
