SEAL BEACH, Calif. (AP) - The Seal Beach police chief has been placed on paid leave after the Orange County city received a complaint that he committed serious misconduct.
Joe Stilinovich was placed on administrative leave last week while the allegation is investigated.
The city didn’t release details of the complaint.
City Councilman Gary Miller tells the Long Beach Press-Telegram (https://bit.ly/2dZOJ2R ) that council members also weren’t given details. Miller says he’s surprised by the action and calls Stilinovich an outstanding chief.
Seal Beach has about 24,000 residents. Stilinovich became chief in 2012 after serving 17 years with the Long Beach Police Department.
A message seeking comment from the chief wasn’t immediately returned Friday.
However, the president of the Seal Beach Police Foundation tells the Press-Telegram that the chief is “hurting big time.”
