PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The deadline for Rhode Island residents to register to vote in the November 8 election is approaching.
Those eligible to be voters can register online until 11:59 p.m. Sunday. They can also submit forms at one of more than 40 sites that will be open Sunday in each town and city.
Information about how to register can be found at sos.ri.gov/elections or by calling the Secretary of State’s office at 401-222-2340.
The office also advises voters who have moved or changed names since they last voted to update their information by the Sunday deadline to avoid problems on the day of the election.
The deadline is always 30 days before the election. Rhode Island law bars it from being postponed, as other states have done because of the long weekend.
