PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Alek Torgersen threw two touchdown passes and ran for another while Tre Solomon ran for 114 yards and a score to lift Pennsylvania past Central Connecticut State 28-16 on Saturday.

Torgersen’s 7-yard run put Penn up 7-0 with 9:28 left in the first quarter, and three minutes later he completed a 19-yard touchdown pass to Nicholas Bokun.

Jacob Dolegala put the Blue Devils on the board with a 62-yard pass to K.J. Smith early in the second. Ed Groth then added a 39-yard field goal to cut the deficit to 14-10.

But Torgersen completed a 29-yard score to Christian Pearson to make it 21-10 and the Quakers were never threatened. Pearson had 91 yards receiving for Penn (2-2).

Dolegala threw for 341 yards and Smith had 120 yards receiving. Central Connecticut (1-4) had 30 carries as a team for 22 yards rushing.

It was the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
