BELLINGHAM, Wash. (AP) - Officials in Whatcom County in northwest Washington state are considering banning vaping in certain areas.
The Bellingham Herald reports (https://bit.ly/2dD94vR) that the County Council is looking at putting the same restrictions on e-cigarettes as traditional cigarettes.
Traditional cigarettes can’t be smoked in public places and indoor work places such as bars, restaurants, non-tribal casinos and bowling alleys.
Vaping within 25 feet of doors and windows of public places or businesses would also be prohibited.
The County Council is holding a public hearing Tuesday to consider the measure.
Public health officials say the ban is needed due to health risks and increased vaping use by young people.
