CORALVILLE, Iowa (AP) - An Iowa inmate serving a 10-year sentence for a burglary conviction has died in prison.

The Iowa Department of Corrections says Christopher Carl Cretin died Wednesday of natural causes due to chronic renal failure. He was 40.

Cretin was serving his sentence for second-degree burglary in Pottawattamie County. His sentence began on Oct. 1, 2014.

Iowa corrections spokesman Fred Scaletta says Cretin had been assigned to the Iowa Medical and Classification Center’s Hospice Care Unit.
