CHALLIS, Idaho (AP) - A 72-year-old elk hunter who fell from a horse in a central Idaho wilderness area has been flown by helicopter to a medical facility in Boise for treatment.

The Custer County Sheriff’s Office tells KIFI-TV (https://bit.ly/2cCN6bK) that Dave Miller of Tehachapi, California, was flown from that area Sunday afternoon.

Authorities say Miller fell from a horse in the Jim McClure-Jerry Peak Wilderness Area.

Rain and fog initially prevented a Life Flight helicopter from locating Miller but a ground team found him Sunday afternoon and the helicopter then transported him out of the rugged area.

Authorities didn’t release the extent of Miller’s injuries.
