Protect and serve … and also catch foul balls sometimes.

During the St. Louis Cardinals-San Francisco Giants game over the weekend, Giants’ infielder Joe Panik smacked a foul ball into the stands. The ball headed straight for an on-duty police officer, who instinctively took off his hat to snag the ball.

The officer then handed the ball off to a kid, acknowledged his round of applause and continued on doing police officer duties.

Not a bad day at the office.
