MANCHESTER, Iowa (AP) - A man convicted as a teenager of killing his grandparents in Manchester has been resentenced to life in prison with a chance of parole.

The Dubuque Telegraph Herald reports (https://bit.ly/2cHdYXZ ) Judge Michael Shubatt last week resentenced 21-year-old Isaiah R. Sweet, who had been serving a life sentence with no chance at parole.

Sweet was convicted of fatally shooting his grandparents in 2012, when he was 17.

He appealed his sentence to the Iowa Supreme Court, which in May banned life prison sentences without the possibility of parole for juveniles convicted of first-degree murder, prompting last week’s resentencing.

Sweet is being held at the Iowa State Penitentiary in Fort Madison.
