EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - Eugene-Springfield NAACP President Eric Richardson is calling for the University of Oregon to remove the name of a campus founder and slavery advocate from its campus.

The Register-Guard reports (https://is.gd/Wv2JOT ) that Richardson says he hopes the university will rename the hall named after Matthew Deady.

The call comes after the Board of Trustees earlier this month voted to change the name of Dunn Hall, which was named after Frederic Dunn, a former professor and Klu Klux Klansman.

UO President Michael Schill is slated next month to make a recommendation to the board on Deady’s name.
