FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - A Northern California sheriff’s sergeant has died in an off-duty car crash.

The Fresno Bee reports (https://bit.ly/2daKxtV ) that Tulare County Sheriff’s Sgt. Mike Yandell died late Saturday after crashing his Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.

California Highway Patrol said in a release Sunday that 38-year-old Yandell made an unsafe turn, crossed two lanes and crashed into a dirt embankment.



CHP says the truck overturned and Yandell was ejected. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

Yandell died at the scene.

CHP says the crash remains under investigation.
