PITTSBURGH (AP) - Jurors in western Pennsylvania are to begin deliberations Tuesday in the trial of a man accused of killing and dismembering his elderly mother and stepfather before putting their body parts into plastic bags.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (https://bit.ly/2d4uhfk ) reports that closing arguments were made Monday in Allegheny County in the trial of 48-year-old Frederick Harris III. He’s charged in the December 2014 murders of 73-year-old Olivia Gilbert and her 76-year-old husband, Lamar, in Penn Hills.
Defense attorney Carrie Allman said prosecutors had failed to present evidence linking her client to the crime or a motive. She pointed the finger at someone else, which Assistant District Attorney Lisa Pellegrini called “ludicrous.”
Pellegrini said the defendant’s fingerprints were found on knots sealing garbage bags that contained body parts and on packing tape.
