NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (AP) - A man has been injured after being shot by police during a drug raid at a western New York home.

Niagara Falls Police say the shooting occurred shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday when officers from the city and the county drug task force arrived at the home to execute a search warrant.

Niagara Falls Police Superintendent Bryan DalPorto says police had made contact with the 33-year-old man prior to entering the home. He says the man was holding an assault rifle when he was shot in the abdomen. He was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to survive.



The officer has been placed on administrative leave while the department investigates.

No names have been released.
