WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) - A jury in Winston-Salem is considering whether a man should die for killing a woman nearly three years ago.
The Winston-Salem Journal reported (https://bit.ly/2ddEB32) the Forsyth County jury must a sentence for 24-year-old Anthony Vinh Nguyen in the 2013 death of Shelia Pace Gooden.
Nguyen was convicted Tuesday of murder, kidnapping, burglary and armed robbery.
Prosecutors said the 43-year-old single mother was working two full-time jobs when she was killed.
Prosecutors say Nguyen is one of three men who burst into her home when she answered the door. She was shot several times.
Prosecutors say the men were looking for drugs, money and other valuables. They took a flat-screen television worth about $200.
The other defendants will be tried later, although prosecutors are not seeking a death sentence against item.
