POLLOCK, La. (AP) - Louisiana will name part of U.S. 165 in Grant Parish for a Marine captain who died in Vietnam when his helicopter was shot down in 1967.

A ceremony including family members will be held Sunday in Pollock to mark the naming for Capt. Ronnie Bennett.

State Rep. Terry Brown, I-Colfax, who authored the bill naming the section of highway, tells The Town Talk (https://townta.lk/2clbFIo) that Bennett was a role model.

Bennett had only been in Vietnam a little over a month when his helicopter was shot down, records show. His body was recovered, and he is buried in Pollock Cemetery. His military honors include the Purple Heart.

Bennett would have been 75 Sunday.
