OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A man held in an Oklahoma County jail was found dead two days after being charged in the fatal beating of an Oklahoma City man.

Acting Sheriff P.D. Taylor tells The Oklahoman (https://bit.ly/2oZk47f ) that 30-year-old Aaron Ducky Spottedcorn was discovered dead in his cell Sunday during a regular hourly check.

Spottedcorn was accused of beating 79-year-old Beaux McGlothlin to death with a plaster statue in the victim’s home in northwest Oklahoma City. McGlothlin was found dead Tuesday. Spottedcorn was arrested the next day and charged Friday with first-degree murder.

While Taylor has implemented new initiatives to help prevent jail suicides since taking over March 1, he says that the suicides aren’t completely unavoidable.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is looking into Spottedcorn’s death.
