BELLE VERNON, Pa. (AP) - Authorities have identified a man killed in a small plane crash at an airport in western Pennsylvania.

Emergency crews in Westmoreland County were called to Rostraver Airport Wednesday afternoon after the plane went down.

Authorities say 42-year-old John Graham III, of Jefferson Hills, was practicing “touch and go” landings and traveling west on the runway when a gust of wind forced the plane into a southern direction. Graham was unable to regain control of the aircraft and crashed into a wooded area near the runway. The plane then burst into flames.

Graham was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the only person on board the aircraft at the time of the crash.

Local police and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating.
