BERKELEY HEIGHTS, N.J. (AP) - Police say an elderly couple died and their caretaker was critically injured in a house fire in New Jersey that is not considered suspicious.

The fire broke out shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday in Berkeley Heights. Firefighters pulled the three out of the home and performed CPR before transporting them to a hospital.

Erwin and Mary Gloss, both 95, were both pronounced dead there a short time later. The 48-year-old woman who cared for them suffered undisclosed injuries and was hospitalized is in critical condition.

Two firefighters were treated at the hospital for minor injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
