WINOOSKI, Vt. (AP) - Police have identified a man found dead in Vermont’s Winooski River and say he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police say 45-year-old Daniel Burke, of Bolton, was found Wednesday. They were called to the area near the Winooski Bridge.

Police said Burke’s family reported him missing in December. His vehicle was found in Waterbury, and he was not found after several days of searching.

The medical examiner’s office determined he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
