BILLERICA, Mass. (AP) - Four members of a Massachusetts fire department have been placed on leave pending an investigation into allegations of what town officials called “sexual misconduct.”

Billerica Town Manager John Curran said Wednesday the three male firefighters and a female dispatcher will be the subject of disciplinary hearings later this month. He says they could be fired.

Curran did not disclose details of the alleged misconduct or any names.

Fire Chief Tom Conway became aware of the alleged misconduct and alerted Curran in January. Curran had town-hired attorneys open an investigation at that point.

Curran says there’s no evidence that public safety or calls to the station were compromised because of the alleged misconduct. He says the department has also instituted some new procedures in the wake of the investigation.
