WILKINSBURG, Pa. (AP) - A county probation officer and another man were recovering after they were targeted in an ambush-style shooting in a crime-ridden Pittsburgh suburb.
Allegheny County police aren’t releasing the names of the officer or the 21-year-old man he was talking with on the porch of a Wilkinsburg house when they were targeted just before 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Police Assistant Superintendent James Morton says it appears 11 shots were fired from one handgun, although two masked men were seen charging the porch, and ran away after the gunfire.
The probation officer was listed in fair condition and expected to be released from a hospital Thursday. The other man had successful surgery for his wounds on Thursday morning and is also expected to survive.
The probation officer was on-duty at the time.
