WASHINGTON (AP) - District of Columbia school officials say that a convicted sex offender posed as an employee and drove a school bus full of children for a week before anybody caught on.

WJLA-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2piJjl7 ) that a human resources staffer allowed the man to drive bus routes between March 15 and March 21, transporting children from DC Public Schools and charter schools in the area. A statement issued by the Office of the State Superintendent of Education says that when officials learned that the man didn’t have proper credentials he was removed. The man had been convicted of attempted misdemeanor sexual assault. The statement said the families of 22 children were notified, but that officials don’t believe he had any inappropriate contact with any of them.
