NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A popular morning news anchor has been tapped to give a commencement address at Southern University in New Orleans.

In a news release, the university announced that Sally Ann Roberts will give the keynote address at ceremonies set for the afternoon of Saturday, May 13, at the New Orleans Lakefront Arena.

Roberts is a co-anchor on WWL-TV’s weekday morning news program.

She made national headlines in 2012 when she donated bone marrow to her sister, Robin Roberts, a co-host of ABC’s Good Morning America.

At the time, Robin Roberts was suffering from a bone marrow disease known as MDS.

Since then, both sisters have traveled to encourage potential donors to sign up for the National Bone Marrow registry.
