ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Police in North Carolina say a man is in jail after a woman told authorities that he beat and raped her while holding her against her will in his apartment for three days.

WLOS in Asheville reports (https://bit.ly/2oivtyl) Asheville police said 40-year-old Benjamin David Brown is charged with assault on a female, felony assault with a deadly weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to police, the woman said Brown raped her multiple times, and destroyed her cell phone when she tried to call for help. She also said he hit her with his fists, a croquet mallet and a knife handle, and kicked her in the head and side.

Brown, who was arrested Sunday, is jailed on a $21,000 bond. He was scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
