OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (AP) - A rare white squirrel is attracting attention on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/2oRDRbr ) that members of a photography club filmed it a few months ago at Little Children’s Park in Ocean Springs.

Mayor Connie Moran says she and her husband spotted the squirrel there last week. Moran says it has dark eyes, so she doesn’t believe it is albino.

Mark LaSalle with the Pascagoula River Audubon Center says if it were albino, it would have pink eyes, and pink skin would be visible under its fur.

LaSalle says he has heard reports of about a half-dozen white squirrels in the area in the past 10 years.
