CHICAGO (AP) - First-degree murder charges have been filed against a suspect in the shooting death of man near a South Side Chicago Transit Authority train station.

The charges against 33-year-old Frederick Stewart were announced Tuesday by Chicago police.

Stewart is accused in the shooting death of Javontay Tolliver during an argument early Monday.

Authorities say the two were arguing on the train station platform when they were asked to leave the station by a CTA employee.

Police say that within moments of leaving the station, Stewart pulled out a handgun and shot the 33-year-old Tolliver in the head and chest. The Cook County medical examiner’s office said Tolliver was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital.

It wasn’t immediately known if Stewart has legal representation.
