LEWISTON, Maine (AP) - District attorneys in Maine are looking for new options to extradite prisoners to the state in the wake of an investigation into the possible mistreatment of an inmate.

U.S. Prisoner Transport has denied it mistreated the inmate, who is from Lewiston and was transported from Florida to Maine in November.

A special investigation by the Sun Journal (https://bit.ly/2pRU8Kz ) newspaper made allegations of the neglect and mistreatment of 34-year-old Meghan Quinn. Prisoner Transport says an internal affairs investigator at the company investigated and made no findings that standard procedures were violated.

The Sun Journal has also reported that district attorneys in southern and central Maine halted their use of the company after learning of the allegations of mistreatment. The paper reports county prosecutors are planning to meet to discuss other options.
