OLD SAYBROOK, Conn. (AP) - State police say a man has died after his car crashed into a tree in the median of Route 9 near the Essex-Old Saybrook line.
Troopers say they responded to the accident shortly after 6 a.m. Sunday.
The driver killed in the crash was identified as 38-year-old Keith Engle of Bristol. He was the only person in the car.

State police say Engle was driving northbound when the car went off the road, struck a wire barrier and hit a tree in the median.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. Anyone with information is urged to call state police.
