SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A routine traffic stop in Sioux Falls escalated with the arrest of two juveniles who will likely face numerous felony charges.

Police say they pulled over an adult motorist Wednesday afternoon, and after he stepped out of the vehicle, a boy in the front passenger seat slid over and drove away.

Police followed the vehicle. The boy eventually jumped out and fled. The Argus Leader (https://argusne.ws/2pGrUpR ) says a girl in the back seat jumped out as well, grabbed a 6-year-old child in the vehicle and tried to flee.

The car rolled over the foot of the older girl as she tried to get away and hit a police car. She was treated at a hospital. The boy was arrested following a short foot chase. Both are in juvenile detention.
