TORONTO — Having sent the Toronto Maple Leafs, their first-round opponent in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, packing, the Washington Capitals now await their second-round opponent, the Pittsburgh Penguins.

That series will begin Thursday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m. at Verizon Center. The Capitals will host Game 2 on Saturday, April 29 at 8 p.m.

The series then shifts to Pittsburgh for Game 3 on Monday, May 1 and Game 4 on Wednesday, May 3, both beginning at 7:30 p.m.

If necessary, Washington would host Game 5 on Saturday, May 6, Pittsburgh would host Game 6 on Monday, May 8 and (God forbid) Washington would host Game 7 on Wednesday, May 10. Times for those games will be announced as-needed as the series goes on.

The series will be the 10th between the Capitals and the Penguins in the postseason, most against a single opponent in Capitals franchise history. The most recent came in the second round of the playoffs just last season, when the eventual-Stanley Cup Champion Penguins beat the Capitals in six games.

Washington compiled a 2-0-2 record against the Penguins in this regular season.
