CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - College of Charleston men’s basketball coach Earl Grant has signed a new five-year contract that ties him to the school through the 2022 season.

The school’s athletic director, Matt Roberts, announced the deal Monday.

Grant has gone 51-48 in three seasons with the Cougars. This past season, he led the team to a 25-10 record and reached the Colonial Athletic Association tournament championship game before falling to UNC Wilmington last month. Grant was named CAA coach of the year last season.

Roberts said the team’s success were a direct result of Grant’s “leadership and commitment” to the school.

Grant spent five seasons as an assistant at Clemson before joining the Cougars in the summer of 2014.
