BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Vermont’s largest city is going to begin towing cars that have been parked in city garages for longer than 48 hours.

Burlington officials say the city has formally adopted a new policy that will allow cars to be towed at the owner’s expense if they remain in the garage longer than 48 hours.

WCAX-TV (https://bit.ly/2qbHeY6 ) reports that many cars were being left in some of the city’s garages for months and longer where they collected dust and took up spots that could be used by short-term parking customers.

The city will issue warnings until May 1. After that cars can be towed.
