LOWELL, Mass. (AP) - Police in Massachusetts are praising two teenagers who helped pull a suicidal man from the edge of a bridge.

The teens, Justin Petterson and Jesse Carrier, say they had already dragged the man back to safety once Monday night when they saw him again standing outside the railing on a bridge over the Merrimack River in Lowell.

They say they called police from a nearby restaurant and then rushed back to where the man was standing. This time a police officer helped them pull the man back over the railing.

Lowell Police Lt. Steve O’Neill told WBZ-TV the teens, both 16, got there just in time.

The man was taken to a hospital to be evaluated.
