Sen. Edward Markey said Thursday he hasn’t seen evidence yet that China is actually putting pressure on the North Koreans regarding their nuclear program.

“There’s no evidence yet that the Chinese are actually doing anything to put a stranglehold on the North Korean economy that could advance the goal of having real meaningful negotiations,” Mr. Markey said on MSNBC.

The Massachusetts Democrat said the White House didn’t provide any new information to members of the Senate during their meeting Wednesday, and that it was more of a presentation than a briefing.

Mr. Markey did say, however, that he was encouraged by President Trump’s desire to solve the issue diplomatically saying, “There is no military solution to this issue.”
