MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Prosecutors say a blood sample from the kitchen floor of a Madison man fatally stabbed in his downtown apartment last week matches the suspect’s DNA.

Twenty-three-year-old Darrick Anderson of Columbus was charged Monday with first-degree intentional homicide in the death of 46-year-old Andrew Nesbitt. Nesbitt was found dead in the bedroom of his apartment on March 27.

The complaint says police collected the blood drop at Nesbitt’s apartment after a roommate came home to find him dead.

Anderson was arrested after an apparent shoplifting incident at a mall. The complaint says a DNA sample taken from him matched a DNA profile developed from blood taken from the victim’s kitchen floor.

The Wisconsin State Journal (https://bit.ly/2ovcK65 ) reports Anderson is jailed on $250,000 bail. He’s due back in court April 11.
