SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah (AP) - Utah community leaders are looking for legal options to prevent a homeless resource center from being built in their city.

The Deseret News reports (https://bit.ly/2o6iBy1 ) Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams announced the future location of the homeless resource center in South Salt Lake last week.

South Salt Lake Mayor Cherie Wood told her constituents who opposed the center to attend the state’s Homeless Coordinating Committee on April 10, where McAdams will seek approval for the center’s location. Wood says they are also reaching out to other cities and experts for advice.

Wood also wants to make sure her city gets the compensation it was promised.

McAdams had previously said that in exchange for hosting the center, South Salt Lake would receive increased economic development initiatives and infrastructure investments.
