WITTMANN, Ariz. (AP) - An armed man who barricaded himself inside a car alongside a highway in Wittmann has surrendered to authorities after a two-hour standoff.

The name of the man wasn’t immediately released Wednesday evening.

Authorities say the man allegedly pulled a weapon on another person, who escaped and called 911 and provided the vehicle’s license plate.

The white SUV was pulled over on U.S. 60, which was closed in both directions for a 10-mile span during the barricade situation.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety, Surprise police and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene west of Phoenix around 4 p.m.

At least a dozen law enforcement vehicles and a SWAT team were parked yards away from the man before he finally he exited the car and was arrested.
