MCCOMB, Miss. (AP) - A road construction worker has died after being electrocuted in southwest Mississippi.

Pike County Coroner Percy Pittman tells the Enterprise-Journal (https://bit.ly/2nbZL9u) that Tony James Jr. died Tuesday while working from a bucket truck. James may have come into contact with live power lines.

County Road Manager Mike Duncan says James was working for Magco, a contractor based in Laurel that was hired by the county to replace a culvert. Heavy rains washed out the old culvert in March 2016, closing parts of the road.

Magco did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Pittman says James was taken by helicopter to Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
