ST. LOUIS (AP) - An 18-year-old suspect is charged with second-degree murder and other counts in the shooting death of a man on a light rail train near the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

St. Louis County prosecutors on Thursday charged Djion Oates in the death of 22-year-old Jesse Boone. Oates is jailed on $500,000 cash-only bond.

The shooting happened about 11:15 p.m. Wednesday on a MetroLink train as it approached a stop near the university. Some of the witnesses on the train were students.

Police say Oates and Boone were involved in an argument that led to the shooting. Police spokesman Benjamin Granda says Oates ran from the train but was quickly captured by arriving officers.

Police say a gun was recovered. Oates had a previous conviction for first-degree robbery.
