SALISBURY, N.C. (AP) - Police in North Carolina have arrested two men identified as gang members in connection with a double murder last weekend.
Local media outlets report Jalen Lamont Cook and Zakeko Duren, both 23 years old, were wanted in the deadly shooting last Saturday in downtown Salisbury. According to police, Cook and Duren were arrested moments apart on Tuesday.
Police Chief Jerry Stokes announced in a news conference prior to the arrests that Cook faced two counts of murder and one count of assault with a deadly weapon. Stokes said Duren faced one count of inciting a felonious riot.
Charges were filed in the shootings last Saturday which killed 23-year-old Da’Quan Robertson and 22-year-old Anthony Eugene Gill. Two other people were injured in the shooting. Police said an argument preceded the shootings.
