MADISON, Maine (AP) - Three sheriff’s deputies involved in the shooting death of a gunman who killed three people in Madison, Maine, have returned to work.
The Office of the Maine Attorney General released a briefing on the shooting Monday. The Morning Sentinel reports (https://bit.ly/2uRfMnH ) the three deputies, Chief Deputy James Ross, Detective Michael Ross and Deputy Joseph Jackson, were put on administrative leave after the July 5 shooting of Carroll Tuttle Jr.
Somerset County Sheriff Dale Lancaster says he made the decision to clear the deputies to return based on a preliminary report on the shooting. The Attorney General’s office says they are still conducting a full investigation.
Lancaster says there will be a separate internal investigation by his office on the use of deadly force in the shooting.
