CHANDLER, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a Phoenix man has been arrested for allegedly wounding a gas station store clerk and shooting at Chandler police during the ensuing pursuit.

Police say 29-year-old Robert Lee Antone Jr. is being held in suspicion of aggravated assault, kidnapping and prohibited possession of a weapon.

They say Antone was trying to buy beer Monday night, but the clerk refused because she believed Antone was already intoxicated.

Police say Antone retrieved a gun from his car and fired six shots at the store. The clerk reportedly was struck multiple times in a leg and taken to a hospital.

Antone allegedly fired at least two shots at pursuing police officers before he was arrested.

Police say Antone’s girlfriend and her young nephew were in the car but weren’t injured.
