SOCASTEE, S.C. (AP) - A 70-year-old woman died in a mobile home fire in South Carolina that three other adults managed to escape.

Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler says Maria Vaca died of smoke inhalation from the fire reported about 2 a.m. Monday in Socastee, just outside Myrtle Beach city limits.

Fire officials say the others made it out safely after a smoke alarm woke them up.

Vaca died at the scene. One adult was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Horry County Fire Rescue Capt. Mark Nugent says fire crews installed three smoke alarms in that home July 22 as part of efforts to install working alarms throughout the trailer park.
