NEWTON, N.C. (AP) - A Statesville man will not face a possible death penalty after being charged in a shooting death in western North Carolina.,

The Hickory Daily Record reported that prosecutors have decided against seeking a death sentence for 41-year-old Bradley Dwayne Davis, who turned himself in to police in Hickory on June 19.

Davis is accused of killing 37-year-old Shamar Rashad Wilson on June 17 in a shooting near a lounge in Hickory.



Prosecutors have not released a motive in the shooting.

No trial date has been set.
