PALMDALE, Calif. (AP) - Southern California authorities say up to 40 students at a school have been stung by bees in their classroom.

It happened around noon on Tuesday at Palmdale High School in the high desert Antelope Valley north of Los Angeles.

Fire officials say students in the classroom somehow angered bees that had built a nest there over the summer. Classes resumed about a week ago.

Authorities say the bee stings were mostly minor but three students were taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
